Speed Comparisons

How fast are motorbikes?

People often refer to them simply as “an engine on two wheels”, which in actual fact isn’t all that far from the truth and consequently they achieve lightning quick acceleration and can hit their top speeds in record time.

How do they compare to supercars and sports vehicles?

Let’s take the Suzuki GSX-R750 bike which can be purchased for under £10,000 brand new. It has a top speed of 172mph and can accelerate from 0 – 60mph in a blistering 2.9 seconds.

Compare this with a new Ferrari F12 which can reach a top speed of 211mph but takes 3.1 seconds to hit 60mph from a standstill – fairly similar performance credentials, however the Ferrari costs a whopping £239,000! So value for money isn’t really in question.

The Lamborghini Aventador matches the Suzuki bike for acceleration and is a little faster than the Ferrari reaching 217mph, but you’ll be shelling out in excess of £260,000 if you want a new one.

It is easy to see why speed junkies turn to motorbikes. They really do provide the ultimate value for money if you want a thrill on the road.
